Here's a once in a lifetime chance to snaffle a top quality instrument. By |2016-06-23T15:06:44+10:00June 23rd, 2016|featured|

We have a very limited number of Oscar Schmidt autoharps available. These instruments from one of the original makers are high quality but very reasonably priced. We have had many phone calls from musicians in search of autoharps in recent times so we were very pleased to unearth some stock, albeit very limited.

The fingerboard and bridge are ebony with bone trim. The pegs are actually “PegHed” planetary tuners and do a great job, both tuning and [...]

We had a big night at Guitar Gallery on Monday 3rd June to mark the beginning of Winter. Wine tasting followed by trying to pick which fine F4 style mandolin Gerry was playing hidden behind a sheet. Mandolins are harder to pick than guitars and no-one got them all right. Perhaps we should do the [...]

The shop is sometimes a a place where great and idiosyncratic musical minds meet. We encourage such collaborations. Here are three videos shot recently in the shop. Firstly Muhammad plays kora and Gerry joins in on fiddle. Muhammad came in to get a new pickup fitted on his kora (a twinhead K&K if you're interested) [...]

By |2016-06-08T13:57:46+10:00March 27th, 2013|Uncategorized|

We are big fans of square neck, lap style instruments here at Guitar gallery. Gerry and Graham have played them for longer than they'd care to remember and Pepi is even beginning to try her hand, and doing pretty well we think. We like to think that we didn't choose to play these instruments purely [...]

A couple of years ago we had Stromberg guitars in the shop and they impressed us very much. They're back and at a new low price that makes them a mouthwatering prospect. We are currently stocking the Newport and Montreux models, both of which feature abalone inlay, maple back and sides and spruce top, Kent [...]
