Martin Bowlback Mandolin
This is a very sweet sounding mandolin. Ideal for classical pieces and ragtime styles popular around the turn of the last century.
CF Martin made Italian style bowlback mandolins, as well as pioneering his flat back version. Martin started making bowlbacks in around 1898, but stopped production we think, some time in the 1920s.
The Martin bowlback mandolin has serial number 9438 stamped inside the body of the instrument. The mandolin therefore dates to 1921 as the year of its production. Dating of this instrument can be cross-checked through serial number decoder.
Impressed factory stamp to back of headstock, made in the USA.
