Martin Style E Mandolin 1923
The 1923 Martin Style E Mandolin has all the 45 pearls inlaid around the body. Made from Brazilian rosewood back and sides, along with spruce top. This is the jewel of Martin Mandolins. In addition, it has inlaid herringbone decoration on the back of the instrument. All in all, the mandolin is in excellent condition.
This mandolin was the best mandolin money could buy back in 1923. It still holds it own with other flat back versions. Great for Americana styles of music, popularized by such legends as Ry Cooder and David Lindley.
Serial number 11689 dates the mandolin to 1923. Coupled with authentication letter from The CF Martin Organisation, USA, this Style E is certainly an item worth collecting. Accordingly, Martin’s serial number look-up can date all Martin guitars and mandolins, and can confirm the date of this instrument.
