More details about Blueridge BR-283 Pre-War Series Guitar
This Blueridge BR-283 was made in 2008 and has solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides.
Who knows the actual age of this timber but we do know from the mid sixties Brazilian rosewood started to have restrictions placed on it’s use and was finally banned and added to the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) list in 1992.
Legally obtained Brazilian rosewood was generally salvaged from old stocks, sunken logs that were pre-CITES sources but also retreived stumpwood from the very old trees harvested previously which left a considerable amount of timber above ground. This timber would, by now be the oldest (and hardest) part of the tree.
Saga Music California sourced some and made a number of their top guitars with it. The supply ran out pretty quickly and East Indian rosewood returned to the production line.
Brazilian rosewood is very beautiful but is also known for it’s excellent resonance and tone. Old Martin guitars have proved this to be the case.
The BR-283 we have is in excellent condition and comes with Deluxe Golden Gate Vintage style case.
