More details about Jack Spira S1 Small Body Guitar

All of Jack Spira’s guitars designs have unique features which makes them pretty easy to spot, even from a distance.

Jack calls this model the S1 and he has only made a few of them, this guitar is shown on his web-site, so was possibly the first. The S1’s back and sides are in highly figured Australian Blackwood and the top is Englemann Spruce.

The small bodied S1  has a punchy quick fire response that jazz players might enjoy but this little 25 3/4″ scale guitar also lends itself to a cowboy country style akin to some early Stella floating bridge flatops that were around way back in the early 1900’s.

Jack describes it..” This is a very small body, originally designed as a floating bridge jazz guitar. Its not a copy of a Selmer,  but is very much influenced by that beautiful shape.
Squat and wide, and sometimes with a lozenge shaped soundhole.
I have also used this body as a 15 fret pin bridge guitar, and more commonly, as a 15 or 16 fret guitar bodied bouzouki. It has become my favoured body for the guitar bouzouki.”

This S1 also has a K&K pick-up fitted.
