Litchfield C600 Classical Guitar

Lance Litchfield is a luthier based in Brisbane and is known for building high quality guitars and they have a character of their own.

Some of Lance’s design changes are clearly visible, like the hand contoured bridge with a simple string tie-on system which is so smoothly curved it feels as if it has worn with age rather than by design.

The curiously shaped saddle also tells you that this guitar maker certainly has his own way of doing things. His rosette is also beautifully intricate but there’s a whole lot more going inside this guitar.

Firstly the guitar is finished inside and out, protecting it from high humidity and very dry environments, both of these exist in Australia and sometime in the same city.

The internal bracing is a combination of tonewoods and fine strips of carbon fibre that spread vibrations across the top, reducing it’s mass while maintaining strength and stability. The back bracing is sturdy to say the least and makes you wonder what exactly is going on here ? it’s pretty clear where the weight is.

The heavier back and sides with a super light top is a way to build a guitar that sounds great but will also stand the test of time and climate.

The Litchfield C600 is a fine guitar that’s full of surprises.
