More details about Buckmaster Special 5-string Banjo
Well, what can one say… If you like your banjos fancy then this may just fit the bill.
Before the electric guitar banjos ruled the earth. There were few stringed instruments that could compete with their volume and so banjoists were the electric guitars players of their day. They were often showmen and so a fancy banjo was all part of the show.
Roger Buckmaster’s work on this instruments is pretty mind blowing. Whatever his hourly rate was back then would never have covered the time he would have spent building this instrument. Building banjos, even plain instruments is a time consuming business but the “Buckmaster Special #2 ” goes way beyond that. A labour of love would best describe his work here. The Special #2 sounds just like it looks because it is one of the loudest banjo I have ever had in my shop so it does comes with a warning if you live in an apartment. It is loud but not harsh and has a bell like quality, crisp and clear with lots of sustaining tones.
The case is good and it comes with the original paperwork supplied by Roger back in the eighties. It’s a piece of Australian banjo history.
