Charangos are traditional instruments from Bolivia and Peru, they have 10 strings that consist of 5 pairs. They are tuned like a ukulele G-C-E-A with the 1st string being an E. These wonderful little instruments used to be made out of various animal shells but thankfully those days have long past and now Jacaranda is a popular choice of timber. The body and the neck are painstakingly carved from one piece and left to season for some time in the high and dry altitudes of Bolivia and Peru.
