Eastman MDO305 Octave Mandolin

The Eastman MDO305 is more than an entry level instrument. In appearance it is very understated but has a construction of solid spruce and solid maple back and sides. There are no laminates involved. The satin finish is a nice touch and it avoids the high gloss that some mandolins have in this price range.

Octave mandolins are ideal for vocal accompaniment and other rhythmical styles, jigs and reels for example. Their long necks also suit easy key changes and chord substitutions.
