More details about National Lapsteel Customised
This fifties National Lapsteel is almost unrecognisable apart from the headstock logo and the control knobs. Even the original pick-up is not what it appears to be.
The original magnets were well and truly dead and so 3 neodynium magnets have been ingeniously applied to each side resulting in a surprisingly high output pick-up.
The volume and tone pick-up are also new with the tone control switching through the frequency range incrementally and the volume pot being much smoother than the very ancient originals.
The tuners had also become unusable, the low quality buttons had crumbled and so have been replaced with a new set of Klusons that match the originals when new.
The new paint job is by Greg McKinnon of Brookwood Guitars, Geelong.
