More details about Vega 19-fret Tenor Banjo

This late twenties “Vegaphone” Style-M tenor banjo has the classic tubaphone tone ring and a 19-fret neck.

The banjo is in pretty good nick for it age but will need some frets replacing in the not too distant future, it certainly has been played over the years. We are looking into having those worn frets replaced. It’s not a big job but will need to be done.

The Vega Tubaphone tone ring was developed by the Vega Banjo Company in 1909 and along with the Whyte Laydie tone ring were both significant innovations in the history of banjo design. Tone rings dramatically affect the tone and volume of banjos.

These banjos have successfully been converted to clawhammer 5-strings.
