More details about Collings 001 12-fret Guitar
The Collings 001 12-fret is about as good as it gets in small parlour style guitars. This particular one is in superb condition and hard to see if it’s ever been played.
It’s another “under the bed” and “never played” guitars, sad but quite common.
Traditional tonewoods are used throughout in this model with a solid sitka spruce top supported by mahogany back and sides. This configuration along with the pre-war scalloped bracing and it’s 00 shape gives the guitar a crisp and clear string separation. Other features on the body are a black/white wood nitrate strip rosette, Tortoise-style binding for back and top, black/white wood purfling with a walnut backstrip, and a Tortoise-style celluloid pickguard. The body finish is high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer which gives the traditional vintage styling.
