Geronimo Mateos Jazz Guitar

Handmade by Geronimo Mateos in Madrid this guitar stands out in the shop and not only for it’s glorious Ziricote Sapwood back and sides. This Geronimo Mateos guitar put out a sound not heard before in my shop. The combinations a timbers used and the ever so light oil finish lets the guitar move air so easily. It has a warm lower tone that many GJ guitars do not have and maybe that is why the player like it. They are an acquired taste and compared to other types of guitars can sound loud but maybe a little harsh sometimes.

With this Geronimo Mateos there is else going on that even to a non gypsy jazz player  jumped out and surprised me. Like a great mandolin it has the incredible cut of an archtop but then also has a nice tight bass response too.
