The Regal RD-40V is a resonator guitar that is a roundneck guitar with a dobro style cone and comes in a sunburst finish. These types of resonator guitar were very popular in country music and were often featured in some of the big hits from that period.
Electric guitarists would set them up with very light strings and pretty much use them as a substitute for that twangy electric guitar sound that was so pervasive in Nashville at that time.
Country blues players also favoured them to the metal body resonators due to their more mellow tone.
NOTE: This particular guitar has been retro fitted with a Quartman cone which is US made, this is a significant upgrade. We still have the original lower quality cone and spider.
