This 19-fret Bacon tenor banjo is an interesting instrument and finding out more about was a challenge even with a serial # and model stamp on the dowel stick.
The shell and neck are maple and gives this banjo a lot of volume it has a hoop style tone ring. We have fitted a new frosted head and generally clean all the hardware and as a result it’s looking great.
As for the age a rough guess is c.1930’s. It is in good condition and a plays very well. The machine heads could have been added later and they are good quality Grovers.
Finding a good cases for tenor banjos is always difficult but this Bacon banjo comes with a very good one, very possibly custom made.
