More details about Wheatstone English Concertina 1857

This Wheatstone English Concertina was made in 1857 (according to the Wheatstone serial number reference tables on their web-site.)

The serial number is 8271.

This could have been the Rolls Royce of concertinas at that time because it is very decorative with fine brass inlays in the Rosewood sides and beautiful patterned bellows.

Most of the notes play in both directions with 6 only one way. No buttons are stuck or damaged. None of the Rosewood fretwork is missing but there are some small cracks that would need some attention.

The fancy bellows are in very good condition and holding air very well. We can send a video to show this.
Considering it’s 160 yrs old it’s pretty amazing how it has survived so well. Whilst restoration is never a small job this concertina is definately worth the time and effort. The reeds are steel.
